contributions, The US Congress called her The First Lady of Civil Rights
and The Mother of the Freedom Movement. She is best known for her
refusal to give up her bus seat to a white man in Montgomery, Alabama. She
received many honors including Presidential Medal of Freedom. She is considered

9. Joan of Arc

Maid of Orleans. She is a national heroine of France and a Roman
Catholic saint. She grew up a farm girl during the Hundred Years' War between England
